“TransitionHero provided much needed eyes and brains during our collaboration. Their critical questions and analyses helped us to develop an ambitious Energy Transition Plan which will be implemented in the coming years.”
– Peter Vos, Energy Manager Agristo
What type of fries do you buy: waffle-cut, crispy croquettes, or simply cut the good old-fashioned way? If you have ever bought a bag of frozen potato products, chances are high you have eaten food produced by our recent client, Agristo.
As a world player, Agristo sells frozen potato products in 144 countries across the globe. They have been around for more than 35 years. Aside from making the fries as tasty as possible, they also have sustainability goals in different areas: supply chain, energy and water, waste and byproducts: that’s where TransitionHERO comes in. This Belgian company has a production site in the Netherlands, and we were asked to develop a CO2 reduction roadmap for their site in Tilburg.
Agristo’s production location in Tilburg has two potato production lines with a capacity of more than 45 tons per hour. That is a lot of potatoes! After initial information gathering, we visited the site to gather more data and developed several options for their Energy Transition Plan. The Energy Transition Plan is a concept roadmap with tangible projects to show what actions should be taken to reach their CO2 footprint reduction target for 2030. Main deliverables include business related aspects like: CAPEX estimations, business case per measure, and plans for variable factors like energy demand or electricity price. The deliverables also include options for quick sustainable wins, as well as ideas for long-term CO2 reduction. The best options were chosen, and an Energy Transition Plan set up. It will help Agristo take a step towards becoming CO2 neutral and support a sustainable long-term business!
Next time you buy frozen fries from them, you can enjoy them knowing you’re making a difference!
